Important Update for Cigna Healthcare® Medicare Advantage Providers Beginning January 1, 2026, Cigna Healthcare Medicare Advantage will officially become HealthSpringSM, and HealthSpring will take over prior authorization management for Post-Acute Care \(PAC\) services — including:
🏥 Skilled Nursing Facilities \(SNF\)
🏠 Home Health
🏨 Inpatient Rehabilitation \(IRF\)
🏥 Long-Term Acute Care \(LTACH\)
Until December 31, 2025, EviCore by Evernorth® will continue to manage prior authorizations.
Key dates and details:
Through Dec. 31, 2025: Submit PAs to EviCore for services beginning before Jan. 1, 2026.
Starting Dec. 29, 2025: Submit new PAs for 2026 services to HealthSpring via Availity.
Effective Jan. 1, 2026:
All PAC prior authorizations will be managed by HealthSpring’s clinical team.
PAC facilities must submit concurrent review requests at least 2 days prior to the current PA end date.
Home Health agencies will send initial and ongoing PA requests directly to HealthSpring.
The Cigna Healthcare Medicare Advantage payer space on Availity Essentials will be renamed HealthSpring Medicare Advantage.

Medicare Advantage Landscape in TransitionWhile many insurers are exiting the Medicare Advantage market due to rising costs and operational pressures, Health Care Service Corporation \(HCSC\) is moving in the opposite direction.
HCSC just announced plans to launch Medicare Advantage plans in 948 counties across 30 states and D.C. — expanding its footprint significantly following its acquisition of Cigna’s MA business earlier this year. Pending regulatory approvals, these plans are expected to go live in 2026.
For providers, this shift highlights two critical realities:
1️⃣ The MA space is volatile — some payers are leaving, while others see opportunity.

It’s Time — Medicare Open Enrollment for 2026 Is Here!Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7, 2026 — this is your members annual opportunity to review their plan and make the best choices for the year ahead.
During this period, you can:
✅ Review your current Medicare coverage
